One cool, exciting, and REALLY FUN way to utilize your public speaking skills is to speak on cruise ships, giving what is called “enrichment presentations.” If you love to travel, are knowledgeable about a variety of topics, and enjoy sharing them with a general audience, then this might be a perfect gig for you.
For example, I recently got booked to speak on a 7-Day cruise to the Bahamas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. During the “at sea” days, I gave three 1-hour presentations:
- Singer-Songwriters of the 70s
- How to Get Along with Your Boss and Co-Workers by Understanding Their In-Born Personalities, and
- Buy Before Midnight Tonight! Persuasive Strategies Used on Late–Night Infomercials
Besides going on the cruise myself, I was allowed to bring one traveling companion. Since the cruise took place during my lovely wife’s birthday week, I was able to take her on a cruise of a lifetime as her birthday present!

If you would like to learn how to prepare topics to deliver on cruise ships and create a proposal that the cruise line activity directors will love, I highly recommend taking the same online course that I did, “Speak on Cruise Ships,” by Daniel Hall, an experienced cruise ship speaker who will teach you all the in’s and out’s of the cruise ship speaking industry.
